Though they have been a significant and influential presence in rap music since its very origins, Latino rappers have been largely ignored by the mainstream media. HEROES OF LATIN HIP HOP seeks to rectify the situation by profiling some of the most important Latino figures in rap. Among those whose voices are heard are Kid Frost, the "godfather" or Latin rap, Cypress Hill, possibly the most successful of the group, and Mellow Man Ace, the first Latino rapper to go platinum. Along with interviews and backstage footage, the film includes several music videos and live concert clips. |
