The Hip Hop Congress on the campus of UC Irvine put on a highly successful event on Feb. 22, hosting Hip hop legend KRS-One

Bakari Kitwana, an author and expert on youth culture, hip-hip politics and activism spoke at Ohio University’s Walter Hall Thursday night, touching on racial and political issues and the effects of hip-hop culture on modern society.
At one point or another, the Bay Area held it down with mob music, but since then, it’s struggled to attain the national spotlight it once enjoyed. These days, the Bay Area’s way of life known as “hyphy” is plowing through state lines with the potential to prove what audiences in Northern California have always known: quality music is all the Bay has ever produced.

Bay Area hip-hop rapper Andre “Mac Minister” Dow is very well known among the hip-hop and rap community. He now is also well known by law enforcement officials. In November last year, he was indicted in connection with the murder of Kansas City rapper Anthony “Fat Tone” Watkins, 24, and his friend Jermaine “Cowboy” Akins, 21.
