This Black History Month, we are doing more than celebrating; we are taking ownership. We refuse to let the results of the election, and knowing how many people voted out of hate and ignorance, keep us down. Throughout the month of February, HARI will be sharing playlists, video compilations, and more to remind you of the richness of our history, the beauty of the our contributions, and the depth of our understanding about the ways of the world. More specifically, we will explore traditions of music and humor to remember the past as well as draw connections to the circumstances of the present. Black history is relevant every day because Black history is American history. In the words of the great James Brown, we’re black and we’re proud!
