This research addresses the graffiti production from 1970 to 2000, and the ‘pixacao' in her birth to the present. The author discusses the graffiti in New York and Sao Paulo. The analysis can be broken down into three main generations of artists. The Pioneer, which has in Alex Vallauri the great exponent, Old School, found more to the genesis of the expression of graffiti, and the New School, who added an abstract stylization to urban interventions. In each of these generations, we point to the works and biographies of some artists, exploring their careers and the particular styles and the neighboring regions of artistic production. In these artists generations, we examined also the struggles within the field as well as the conflicts arising from the participation of non-governmental institutions, government agencies and art galleries in the rejection of assimilation and production.
