Nos Tempos da São Bento

The documentary addresses the Hiphop History in Sao Paulo downtown, through break dance. It covers a youth meeting in Sao Bento Square in the early 1980s, where they improve their dance techniques, and stage the first steps of Brazilian Hiphop. Recorded from 2007 to 2010, "Nos Tempos da Sao Bento" is a documentary that seeks the collective memory of Hiphop. One of the purposes is to rescue the memory of those who made the Hiphop history, occupying the space of several years of Sao Bento Square, next to subway Sao Bento Station, in the city center of Sao Paulo. The discursive structure leads to conflict with forgetting, the social act of deleting events, people and groups in history. It is precisely this conflict, presented through the exercise of the narrative, which turns into dramatic action, where the main character is the collective memory.
